After a few years you'll see see 4+ star prospects become minor league free agents every year, even top 100 prospects. These are players with 6 years in the minors that aren't getting resigned by the AI for some reason(prospects who haven't played in the majors will always sign a minor league extension if offered, as far as I know). There are some that will demand a major league contract, if they have a year of service time or so, but many of them will sign a minor league contract.

Attached is an example from the offseason of 2022 (scouting off). $410k demands are only seeking minor league contracts.
