NATIONAL LEAGUE OF BASEBALL - DIV ONE

Hitter of the Year Award: Charlie Hickman - Brooklyn Gothams, SS
150 Games, 633 At Bats, 125 Runs, 234 Hits, 27 Doubles, 28 Triples, 17 Home Runs, 142 RBIs, .370 AVG, .406 OBP, .581 SLG, .987 OPS, 8.9 WAR

- It has only taken Charlie Hickman three seasons to dominate the league and take home his first HOTY award. He improved in every aspect of his game (batting average lifted by .035 points) and at the young age of 26 he looks set to he the main attraction in the Gothams lineup for many seasons to come.

Pitcher of the Year Award: Pete Conway - Indianapolis Capitols, SP
23 Wins, 6 Losses, 0 Saves, 2.06 ERA, 31 Games, 31 Starts, 267.0 Innings, 1.05 WHIP, 168 Ks, 8.1 WAR

- Pete Conway wins his 3rd NLB Pitcher of the Year award after taking it home in 1897 and 1898 also. He has easily been the best starter over the last 7 seasons after being a late comer to full time professional baseball. He played 7 seasons in the ABA for Manchester, (Winning the Outstanding Pitcher award from 1892-1894). At the age of 35 he probably still has many good seasons left and many don't believe he will retire until he has won a championship.

Outstanding Hitter Award: Sam Crawford - Syracuse Bisons, LF
124 Games, 521 At Bats, 100 Runs, 180 Hits, 29 Doubles, 23 Triples, 13 Home Runs, 96 RBIs, .345 AVG, .382 OBP, .564 SLG, .946 OPS, 4.7 WAR

- Sam is a young star of the ABA and will be a big part of getting the Bisons into the NLB. His home run hitting power improved this season as he hit twice as many this seaon as he had hit in 174 starts. At the age of 22 he looks to be ready to lead the Bisons and become one of the best players in baseball.

Outstanding Pitcher Award: Ned Garvin - Scranton Miners, SP
25 Wins, 9 Losses, 1 Saves, 2.38 ERA, 35 Games, 34 Starts, 299.0 Innings, 1.04 WHIP, 149 Ks, 7.2 WAR

- Ned Garvin wins back to back Outstanding Pitcher Awards as he wins a league best 25 games. He has slowly improved since entering the ABA in 1896 and at the age of 28 has a lot of good seasons left in him.
