jcm331... from spring training in 1958, Hal Smith of the Kansas City A's slides into home against Elston Howard of the Yankees. Note the KC batting helmets with a modern day Atlanta-style "A".
This Wikipedia article states (yes, I know) that the American League had passed a rule on March 1 of that year requiring the use of batting helmets. I don't think I've ever seen these particular KC helmets before.
