*So far as anyone can tell, Russ Meyer did not attend spring training with the Pilots in 1969, but he had been slated to. He did scout for the Pilots that year. The other 4 spring training instructors listed were present, as far as we know. Torgy, Bob Lemon and Sibby Sisti served as minor league managers in 1969 and its also understood that those three spent the end of the season with the major league squad, though we're not certain what number Torgy wore at that time. Felix Delgado was the Latin American scout (he signed Miguel Fuentes) and, as much as anything, he was in spring training to facilitate communication with and for the Latin players.

*I do not have a list of the spring training instructors for 1970. Usually, teams will include their minor league managers among the spring staff. In this case, that would include Earl Torgeson, Al Federoff and Sandy Johnson.
**Over the winter of 69-70, the Pilots had protected Miguel Fuentes on the 40-man roster. He was slated to wear #14 (the same number he'd worn in September '69). Fuentes was, of course, shot down that off-season.
