The Pirates bounced back slightly from their post-79 decline in 1983 and finished a surprising second behind the Phillies. For some reason, some of the guys on the lower end of the Pittsburgh roster that year are hard to find--or at least I haven't found them. Then I checked ebay once more and found a 1984 yearbook with small black & white portrait photos of Alfonso Pulido, Joe Orsulak, and Jim Winn, all of whom made their ML debuts in '83. Until now the only photo of Pulido as a Pirate that I'd ever seen was the one on his 1985 Donruss card. I had never seen Orsulak with stoner-style long hair before either, but that's how he looked in 1983. The big prize is Dave Tomlin, who I think was previously unseen in a Bucs uniform. Also in the group are Bobby Bonilla, Mike Bielecki, Denny Gonzalez, Benny Di Stefano,Ray Krawczyk, Trench Davis, Sammy Khalifa, Ravelo Manzanillo, Andy Rincon, Jeff Little, Stan Cliburn, Steve Senteney, and Ruben Rodriguez, among others. Here they all are. Unfortunately I did not record the ebay seller.
