noticed quite a few erroneous pitch repertoires:
n. eovaldi: OOTP gives him cutter and changeup despite 0% use in real life, yet doesn't give him a splitter which he throws 25% of the time
c. kluber: curveball is top-rated pitch in-game (0% RL); yet no slider (16% in RL)
m. bumgarner: has sinker (0% RL), slider (0% RL) and changeup (3% RL) yet no cutter (34% RL)
s. strasburg: has sinker yet no slider (15% RL)
j. fernandez: slider is 2nd rated pitch despite 0% use in RL
Velocity is also off on many pitchers (ex: a. cashner throws an avg fastball of 95 yet the game has him in the 97-99 mph range)
all the percentages are based on pitch/fx data, available at
BrooksBaseball.net: Home of the PITCHf/x Tool - Player Cards.
Yes, perhaps i'm nitpicking a little w/ this...however, OOTP's game engine is hyper-realistic, so it kind of bugs me that simple stuff, like pitch types and velocity is so far-off the mark. It's one thing if it's minor leagues, but we're talking about actual MLB pitchers, even elite ones. It's something that should definitely be looked at more closely for OOTP18 rosters.
