Jack Doscher 1903
On July 2nd, 1903, Jack Doscher made his major league debut as a starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in Philadelphia. He lasted just three innings, allowing six hits while walking two and hitting a batter. He was released after that one game by Chicago and signed by the Brooklyn Superbas on July 15th. He pitched three games in relief for Brooklyn that season, two games the next (while also pitching for Troy in the New York State League), and twelve games in 1905, including seven starts. (The photo below is from the 1905 season.) In 1906, he pitched in just two games for Brooklyn, and spent most of that season and all of the next with Harrisburg in the Tri-State League. His final major league appearances were seven games with Cincinnati in 1908; he continued in the minor leagues through 1914.
