1930 Philadelphia Athletics (#22) 4, 2011 St. Louis Cardinals (#107) 3
MVP: Mickey Cochrane (Phi 1930) .621/.645/.862, 0 HR, 8 RBI
This was an exciting back-and-forth series, where the road team won each of the first 6 games, usually fairly dominantly. The streak nearly ended in Game 4, when Philadelphia took a 5-2 lead into the 9th, but the Cardinals came back with 2 runs and a runner on 3rd, but Yadier Molina grounded to second to end the game. Game 5 was another close one, with the score tied at 3 entering the 9th. But the A's Mickey Cochrane went 5-for-5 and drove in the winning run in the top of the 9th. Game 7 was a masterful pitching performance by Lefty Grove, who finally won a game for a home team. All the runs were scored by the 4th inning, so the A's spent the rest of the game teetering on a one-run lead.
