Jim Fregosi, Lefthanded Shortstop

Add the great shortstop and longtime manager to the list of players who fooled Topps (Lou Burdette, Gene Freese, Bob Uecker, Fregosi himself on a fringe issue) and those who tried (Roger Clemens, Tom Seaver). Hard to see how even the most inexperienced photographer could've missed this - and the main Topps guy in New York in the '60s was named Heyer, and he was no rookie.

Or, the image is legit and that would explain how poorly he fared at third base for the Mets.

Today's Topps uploads (KB): 474-475 Reggie Jackson; 476-478 Alan Foster; 494-495 Hal Brown; 496-497 Lou Brock; 498-499 Dave Freisleben; 500-501 Andres Galarraga; 502-505 Ozzie Smith; 506-509 Jim Fregosi; 510-513 Tito Fuentes; 514-515 Larry Bowa; 516-517 Roger Freed; 518-519 Herman Franks; 520-523 Tito Francona; 524-527 Paul Foytack; 528-529 Joe Foy; 530-531 Dave Frost; 532-533 Craig Biggio; 534-535 Bobby Bonds; 536-539 Larry Elliot; 540-543 Bill Freehan; 544-547 Gaylord Perry; 548-549 Jose Canseco; 550-551 Enos Slaughter; 552-553 Bert Blyleven; 554-555 Orlando Cepeda; 556-557 Clint Courtney; 558-561 Tony Perez; 562 Mike Piazza; 563 Ernie Banks.
