Of course, you need somewhat specialized software to edit SVG files, notably Inkscape (which is 100% free) and Inkscape can definitely take some getting used to. But once you get used to it, you can get some outstanding results.
And as a tip: If you search Google Images and append "filetype:svg" to your search ("Los Angeles Dodgers filetype:svg") it should limit your results to SVG files.

Can Inkscape be used with Mac?
If so, do you have step by step instructions from opening the file, to resizing, color etc?
