With no trades in the SHA, unsigned players and the reserve roster are the only ways to improve the club.

Probably the least effective thing I did was make offers to two FA pitchers. Our staff does not have healthy amount of stamina, even our starters are on the low end of stamina. Right hander Burton DeTerra isn't a top of the line reliever, but could be middle innings eater.

Lefty Kent Huepenbecker is, well, starting depth. If I lose one of the 5 guys with (borderline) starter stamina I'll need an arm to take a turn. Huepenbeck will sit on the reserve roster until needed. DeTerra might be slotted onto the active roster.

J. T. Peden is sent to the reserve roster. His 3.00 WHIP in two outings might be jumping the gun, but I don't have a lot of room for error with my offense. I considered putting Rupert Potrzeba on reserve too, but didn't have two clear reservist to bring up. Hurst Loging gets the call, he had a rough start to the spring season, but looked good over his last 5 appearances.

Infielder Rafael MacShannahan and Erick Goshorn are taken off the active roster. Goshorn probably is being scapegoated--heaven knows he isn't the only one struggling. MacShannahan is one second basemen too many. I think Cristoval Gregorio can give us the power we lack, but his 0-12 to end the spring kept him off the opening day roster. J. J. Rainone is almost a dart board selection.
