In 1969 Miguel Fuentes did something we see once or twice a year but was almost unheard of then. He rocketed through the minors in one season to reach the Seattle Pilots on September 1. He made a series of effective relief appearances and starts and threw the last pitch any Pilot would ever hurl. And the next January 29th, with his first baseball card already in production and maybe even shipment, he was shot to death in a bar fight. He was 23.
