ABL Announces First of Two Bids

The Gold Coast will receive the first of two expansion bids for the 2018 ABL season. The Gold Coast bid received recognition from Baseball Australia as being well prepared. Plans to expand a baseball specific stadium will start immediately. Gold Coast will immediately begin to build a rivalry with Brisbane. Additionally, the Gold Coast will hold a fan nicknaming contest with the Blues or Blue Tongues likely to be the fan favorite.

The ABL would not comment on the further inquiries about Gold Coast's expansion partner. Second meetings were held with Newcastle and Wollongong recently. The ABL's commitment goal to expanding to 12 by 2030 would mean the loser of this bid is likely not left out.
