Since SI has now posted and published some images from my collection (
Don Larsen's 1956 World Series perfect game in rare color photos | SI.com) which are the only known color images of Don Larsen's perfect game, I thought I should provide some detail they have chosen not to.
This hazy look from left-centerfield actually shows Hank Bauer's RBI single in the 6th Inning that made it 2-0 Yankees. Andy Carey is scoring, Sandy Amoros is just releasing his throw back from left, and the figure pointing is none other than losing pitcher Sal Maglie, making sure Amoros throws to second and not home.
