Henderson Supplee

Henderson "Hen" Supplee, a left handed hurler, was a Sharman Society fellow who sat on the bench for the Philadelphia Athletics during the entire 1930 season. The photo is from the Philadelphia Inquirer of February 28, 1930.

Supplee got into an exhibition game with the A's against the Springfield, Massachusetts, team of the Eastern League on July 7. Throughout the 1930 season, there were various reports from his New Jersey home state about his being with the A's, coming home to visit his parents, etc.

Supplee graduated from Haverford College in 1929. Before college, he attended Blair Prep School, and "the local high school." He was from Hampton, NJ. I don't know the area well enough to discern which high school that would have been.

Supplee is not listed in baseball-reference.com because he didn't play minor league ball. He did pitch in semi-pro baseball.
