Sold, yes, but as part of the 1968 minor league draft on December 2 (I believe the fee was $25,000). The Mets were more upset at losing Juan Rios, who also went to Montreal in the minor league draft. Rios was the player the Royals had targeted in that draft, but Montreal picked ahead of them (KC then purchased his contract from Montreal). Moock made it through the regular phase of the minor league draft, but there was a supplementary phase for just the expansion teams that year and Moock went in that one.
Joe coached both baseball and football at a Baton Rouge high school, and he taught history as well. He spent 22 years with that school and was well praised by his kids.
