The 1950's era NFL New York Giants were a pretty good football team but they also had some pretty good baseball players. Quarterback Charley Conerly (OF for Mississsippi) and defensive end Andy Robustelli (3B for Arnold College) were considered pro baseball prospects coming out of college. Backup QB Bobby Clatterbuck was a pitcher-outfielder for a University of Houston team that went to the college world series. Halfback-end Kyle Rote played minor league ball for a season and has already been posted here. Two other Giants had a shot in the minors: defensive back Emlen Tunnell played a few games as an outfielder for the 1949 Cedar Rapids Rockets (although research has suggested he was more highly regarded as a pitching prospect)

Center Ray Wietecha was an OF-!B who played for part of a season with the Charlotte Hornets.

Another baseball connection was defensive back Lee Riley Jr., son of long time minor leaguer and cup of coffee major leaguer Lee Riley Sr., and older brother of basket player/coach/executive Pat Riley. Anyway, here are pictures of Tunnell with Cedar Rapids and Wietecha with Northwestern University in their baseball uniforms:
