Don Vesling was the Tigers 14th round pick in 1987 out of Eastern Michigan University. He also was the place kicker for the EMU football team. Don spent 6 seasons in pro ball with 139 games out of 147 spent with the Tigers org. He made it to AAA during the1989 season pitching for Toledo and going 3-6 in 11 starts with a 3.66 E.R.A. He remained in AAA in 1990 going 3-6 with a 5.02 E.R.A in 35 games with 11 of those being starts. He floundered in 1991 carrying a 6.65 E.R.A thru 12 games pitched and was sent to AA London where he started 18 games and had a 7-8 record and a 5.37 E.R.A. He returned to AA in 1992 and was 4-3 with a 8.03 E.R.A in 12 games (9 starts) and was released. He finished his pro career with 8 games for the Padres AAA club at Las Vegas posting a 5.06 E.R.A.
