Jerry Tabb was one of many failed No. 1 picks of the Chicago Cubs (1973, No. 16 overall), even though his pedigree was more than enough to justify his selection. While at Tulsa, he wound up being named Most Outstanding Player in the College World Series as his school finished second.
Tabb made his MLB debut late in 1975, failed to record an extra base hit and was shipped to the Athletics before any of the card companies could act. The Vault has already opened to a number of his images, both with Chicago and Oakland, but Wednesday's Vault release is the first we've seen of Tabb in his home pinstripes.
