i've been paying alot of attention to my minors lately - unusual for me beyond higher potential prospects. i don't see this happening to any of my important players or even the players that are MiL lifers that are keepers.

try turning off "sign mil free agent and releases" AI control. it won't be often that you need to sign mil free agents. to do so manually will mostly go unnoticed. a glut of injuries at 1 level is the only time you likely need to do something.

i have never seen a locked player get released with ai delegation in this area. so, that's a definite work around.

do you have really low age limits or maybe a glut of players above? espeically if you have an age limit at AAA it has to be released. you may need to delegate MLB promotions/demotions or however it's labeled. otherwise it can't automatically move a AAA'er that is too old to reserved roster etc

rhetorical in nature... might explain behavior if it is the case. (settings and any of a number of other factors that are involved.)

something is different in our settings, because i don't get mass releases due to service time limits on opening day or any other specific day. and i resign lifers if they are decent AAA-potential. it's a very long list each year i select all, right-click, offer MiL exentsion.. from the "upcoming FA" screen with a "league level is not mlb" filter. so a player getting "too old" happens every year and in high frequency at each level.

i don't say that to argue, but that it's likely something you can fix.
