i didn't even respond to the part about why a 21 year old that can't return to a 20 and under league. if there's a RL rule when age limits are enforced that allow such a thing, then it needs to be posted in the bugs forum. it's arbitrary in nature but should defualt to how RL leagues handle it. this isn't a question it's reference material that a simple google search can illuminate if something is not modeled quite like RL

You may not be seeing the issue but we were seeing it in our online league (no ai roster management and only age limit of 22 in one of two rookie leagues with no roster limits) [different league than OP] and I did open a ticket and support replied that
they had found the issue and it will be fixed in v18 (players will be placed in DFA or on reserve roster). So not sure what is different between your setup and the OP's and mine but I guess there is something.
