Dan Gonzales 1979
Gonzales was the Tigers 2nd round pick in the January phase of the 1972 draft out of Fullerton College. He spent 7 years in the Tigers system before making the opening day roster in 1979. He made his first big league start on April 9th starting at DH and batting 8th in Kansas City (He went 0-3 with a K against Rich Gale)
He got his 1st big league hit in a start against the Blue Jays on April 20th when he doubled off of Mark Lemongello.
He went 4-18 in 7 games in 1979 and made a brief return to the big leagues with 7 AB in late May of 1980 and he finished his career 5-25 with a pair of RBI. He began 1981 overseas (Hanshin) before finishing the season in the Texas organization. He spent 1982 and 1983 with the Rangers and Phillies organizations and finished his professional career with 1,020 minor league games played and a .280/.333/.398/731line in 3519 AB.
