Montreal Canadiens (15-4-1) at Carolina Hurricanes (9-7-2)

The Canadiens start the 2nd quarter of the season with a 3 point lead on the Bruins and Blue Jackets, although the Blue Jackets have a game in hand. Montreal made some moves in hope to bolster the offense. We will see how they worked out. I am very excited to see how Zack Davey does. He is a physical player that should help the team offensively.

The captain for the first four years for Montreal has been LW Quincy Kaminsky. The 39 year old from Georgina, ON is a two way forward, but is starting to slow down. A skilled defensive player, he is an up and down winger on the 2nd line that can play the role of a shadow. This year he has 2 goals and 5 points in 20 games, last year he had 9 goals and 27 points with 35 PIMs but was limited to 61 games due to injury. In 234 career NHL games he has 65 goals, 94 assists for 159 points and 123 PIMs.

Carolina is in 9th spot in the East, 1 point out of the final playoff spot currently. The Hurricanes rank 15th with goals at 2.61 goals per game. They are ranked 20th in goals against with 2.89 per game.

The Hurricanes will start G Felix Adolfsson, he has 1 win with a 1.62 GAA and .951 save % in 4 games. Last year he had 8 wins with a 3.23 GAA and a .897 save % in 23 games with Carolina. With back to back games, Montreal goes with G Stefan Mertel, he has 2 wins with a 2.56 GAA and a .910 save % in 5 games.

The first period ends with no scoring, Carolina out shot Montreal 10-9. LD Zack Davey gets into his first NHL fight 9 minutes into the game. Montreal is 0 for 1 on the PP, Carolina 0 for 2.

Montreal scores 1st, at 12:35 of the 2nd period LW Quincy Kaminsky gets his 3rd of the year. The shots were 9-5 in favor of Montreal in the 2nd.

Montreal goes up 2-0 when RW Adrian Andersson gets his 1st NHL goal at 7:08 of the 3rd period. The shots were 7-2 for Carolina in the 3rd period, but Montreal hangs on. Montreal was 0 for 2 on the PP while Carolina was 0 for 5.

Montreal's new comer and in his 1st NHL game, RW Adrian Andersson was the 1st star with his goal, +2 rating, 3 shots on goal and 14:17 in ice time. The 20 year old now has 1 goal and 1 point in 1 game.
