Boston Bruins (29-17-5) at Montreal Canadiens (28-21-3)

The Canadiens will face the Bruins for the 4th time this season. Montreal is 1-2 against the Bruins including a 4-2 loss to the Bruins the last time they met at the Bell Center. Montreal is currently 3rd in the Atlantic with 59 points, 4 behind the 2nd place Bruins and 5 behind the 1st place Panthers. Montreal scores 2.19 goals per game which ranks them 28th in the NHL. They allow 2.33 goals per game, this ranks them 4th in the NHL.

Montreal just recently promoted RW Petr Sucharda. The 20 year old is from Velka Biles, CZE. An offensive foward, the scouts say the strongest part of his game is his playmaking. He is definitely a very good passer and puck handler. He is currently playing on the 4th line as a playmaker. Montreal selected Sucharda 67th overall in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He made his Habs debut on December 20th, 1983. In 5 games, he has yet to register a points or a penalty. In his junior career, he played 130 games for the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL, he had 57 goals with 142 points and 172 PIMs.

The Bruins as previous mentioned are 2nd in the Atlantic, just one point behind the Florida Panthers. The Bruins score 2.76 goals per game or rank 12th in the NHL. The Bruins allow 2.43 goals per game, this ranks them 5th in the NHL.

Boston will start G Tyrone Inskip, he has 23 wins with a 2.45 GAA and a .920 save % in 40 games. Last year he had 33 wins with a 2.44 GAA and a .916 save % in 64 games with the Bruins. Montreal goes with G Wilf Nestor, he has 23 wins with a 2.13 GAA and .924 save % in 42 games.

Montreal opens the scoring at 19:45 of the 1st when C Ed Parks gets his 1st of the season and 1st as a Hab to make it 1-0. Parks played in all 52 prior Habs games this season. The shots were 8-3 for Montreal in the 1st.

Boston ties the score 1-t at 4:37 of the 2nd when LW David Bereridge gets his 26th of the season. Boston goes up 2-1 at 7:58 when RW Frantisek Kujal gets his 10th of the year. Montreal ties it up 2-2 at 14:27 when LW Quincy Kaminsky gets his 8th of the season on the PP. Boston goes back up 3-2 at 16:56 when LW Jaroslav Raclavsky gets his 1st of the year. The shots were 15-13 for the Canadiens in the 2nd.

There was no scoing in the 3rd, Montreal out shot the Bruins 11-5 in the 3rd. Boston was 0 for 3 on the PP, Montreal was 1 for 3.

Boston's LD Steve Middleton had 2 assists and was the 1st star. The 26 year old now has 4 goals and 31 points with 4 PIMs in 52 games.

Dallas Stars RW Frantisek Pustejovsky had 2 goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over the Kings. The 24 year old now has 30 goals and 77 points with 28 PIMs in 54 games. Pustejovsky is a 3-time All-Star.
