if you see some players remain on the 40-man after you dmp them, don't worry... the problem will alleviate itself (likely when you put them somewhere else, but if not... by the time you sim day)

i can't recall if that happens only at a certain time of year or some other prerequisite, but i have encountered it in the past.

if concerned you can spot check for any large amounts of "misc. player expenses" with the teams you removed players from... if it does casue that.. change current contract $$ to "0" before sending to FA/somwhere else.
