My two cents worth...

If creating new threads is a possibility, I would be willing to download or cut and paste the Topps Vault checklist as we know it to start a new one. The thread could be the site to update and correct it, as well as post checklists for hot topics as the McWilliams Hall of Fame archive or even the known Brace archive list that tnfoto has archived for years.
To that end, we also could re-state and clarify the rules about what may be posted from some of these sources. The Hall has has a very strict set of rules about reproducing any of the McWilliams images, but have also posted more than a dozen of them to illustrate articles on Hall of Fame web pages.
This could also be a repository for “unknown” checklists that have eluded the Trading Card Database, such as my Bryan Braves set that caused such a stir.

We could be the source for entering those to the database.
The dicey question about custom cards might be addressed by having a thread that would resemble a good, old-fashioned swap meet. People could post what their needs are in terms of images, players or formats while others could share their own custom creations or collections. No images are required to be posted, keeping it from legal issues, I’d hope.
Easy to suggest all this stuff, but is OOTP willing to host these new threads?
