I have been largely avoiding the site lately and am going to give it a day or two's thought but my inclination is to depart permanently. My livelihood comes from politics and there are sites in that field with better conduct on the part of posters than I've seen here recently - and that's saying something.

Merkle923, if you were to withdraw from this website the site would be much the poorer for it. You are without doubt one of it's finest contributors. I apologize for the 'elitist remark'. It was just the term that popped into my head and in retrospect it was a little harsh. I had no idea that it would help to create this present firestorm.
I have been collecting rare and special interest baseball photos for about six years and prior to that I collected team yearbooks and media guides, baseball magazines and baseball cards. I'm sure that many other members of this website are relatively in the same boat. In many instances, if I want to make a point or contribute something to the forum then baseball cards are all I have to do it with. We all haven't been collecting rare photos for the last 30 years or more.
I'm just saying why put unnecessary restrictions on what can be contributed here. If it's an old pre-season baseball magazine photo that's a little different and interesting, then why not .post it here. If a player has just died or reached a certain age if all you have is a baseball card and you'd like to pay tribute to the player then why not post it here. Even these non-traditional, self-made/home-made baseball cards that some posters are able to produce are quite interesting to most of us.
I am for expanding the number of sources of photos and for expanding the content of this website in general rather than restrict it.
Once again let me say I'm sorry to have "ruffled your feathers". I do get in trouble occasionally for shooting from the hip with my remarks and for this instance I apologize. . That you are a great contributor to this site and it would be a great loss to this website if you no longer participated in it - is absolutely undeniable! - so please stay!
