Googling up some of the recently deceased sometimes brings up images that I find interesting. So I bring them here that, perhaps, others might also find them interesting. In this case, we have a pair of pictures of Dick Starr, who pitched for the Yankees, Browns and Senators. When I first saw the Orioles image (and not knowing much about Starr), I sorta figured it was a major league image--possibly he drifted into their camp one year and didn't make the cut (hey, its why I do it at all because my knowledge base is crap before 1962). So I figured he pitched for the Browns, the Browns became the Orioles, yada yada. So, yeah, it's the
minor league Orioles (either '52 or '53), then a farm club for the Phillies. The image comes from
Goldin Auctions. The other image is Dick with the 1942 Butler Yankees and comes from a site devoted to
Pullman Park. I grey-scaled both images because I do that sort of thing.
