Don Hasenmayer turns 90.
Phillies 2B-3B, Don Hasenmayer turns 90 today (April 4).
While he is not the oldest living Phillie, he is the living player who played for the Phillies the most seasons ago - 72 years ago.
Hasenmayer played for the Phillies in 1945 and no other living Phillies' careers go back that far. (Dick Koecher, 91 played for the Phillies in 1946 and is runner-up in that category.)
Hasenmayer debuted with the Phillies on May 2, 1945, not quite one month after his 18th birthday. World War Two still raged in Europe for one more week and for another four months in the Pacific and South East Asia at the time of Hasenmayer's MLB debut.
He only played parts of the 1945 and 1946 major league seasons and never played in the majors again after age 19. He is a lifelong Philadelphia suburbs resident.
Any photos of Don Hasenmayer would be appreciated. .
