The Brothers Nixon (Donell 1987) (Otis 1983)

Arguably the fastest set of brothers to ever play baseball

One got plenty of opportunities and the other did not....

Let's start with Donell who had back to back 100 SB seasons in the minor leagues. In 1983 playing for Bakersfield (Seattle A ball) he stole an eye popping 144 bags while batting .321/.391/.408/799. He came back in 1984 with Chattanooga (Seattle AA ball) and swiped 102 bags while batting .269 with a .353 OPB. He made his debut with the Mariners in 1987 getting into 46 games and batting .250 with 21 SB. He did not make the Mariners out of 1988 ST and was sent to the Giants in a mid season trade where he played in 59 games with limited at bats hitting .346 and stealing 11 bases. In 1989 he played in 95 games for the Giants and hit .265 stealing 10 bases. He was released after 1990 ST and caught on with the Orioles where he played in 8 more games hitting .250 with 5 SB,

His older brother Otis had a much more memorable big league career but here he is pictured with his original team the New York Yankees who he played in 13 games with in 1983. In 1982 while in the Yankees organization he stole 107 bases between AA and AAA. We all know he took off when he became a staple in the OF for the great Braves teams of the 90's.

Together the brothers Nixon stole a combined 1580 bases during their professional careers.
