PRO CUP MVP TO ATCHLEY
The Most Valuable Player in this year's Pro Cup Finals was Midway's fine young southpaw Yank Atchley... just 24 years old and only in his second season in the IPA, Atchley came through like a seasoned veteran with 5 postseason victories against the best teams in the Islands... he posted a 5-0 mark in 5 starts with a 2.41 ERA and was unanimously named the top player in the playoffs this year... Atchley won two games in the first round... beating Denton City 4-3 and 6-3... topped Turon in the TU title series 4-3... and captured two games in the Pro Cup Finals, taming Taranto 11-1 and 9-1... during the regular season Atchley compiled a 15-7 record with a strong 2.39 ERA... his career figures are 22-12 with a 2.87 ERA.
Atchley easily outpolled his teammates, shortstop Kax Clark, right fielder Daryl Vale and hurler Beau McCloud, in the MVP balloting... Clark batted .400 with 8 doubles, 2 triples, 9 RBIs and 10 runs scored in 14 playoff games... Vale hit .383 with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 1 homer, 7 RBIs and 11 runs... and McCloud was 3-0 with a brilliant 0.74 ERA.
