Season 2 1913 Champions
The GM of the Orlando Schooners, Nate Gilbert, made 3 key off season moves to build his team into a champion. The Schooners, finishing second in the league, upset regular season champion Oakland Park.
The Schooners acquired:
1B George "Enforcer" Slaughter from the Orcas. Slaughter was named MVP of the Florida World Series, and drove in 81 during the reg. season.
SP Kevin Moore: Moore, a Tampa native, left his hometown team to join the Schooners. Moore led the league in wins with 25.
OF Javier "Hack" Ubillus: The former #1 pick by the Canaries became a free agent and signed a 7 year deal with Orlando. Ubillus hit. 288 with a league leading .438 OBP, and stole 58 bases.
Notes:
TAL SP Tony Watson wins his 2nd straight Pitcher of the Year Award finishing with a 24-16 record and 2.67 ERA.
The MVP award goes to Orlando's Chris McNair. McNair finished the season with a .335 AVG, and scored a league high 119 runs.
Alex Hernandez of TAL, wins his 2nd straight batting title with a .339 AVG.
