Season 7 1918 Title Goes Back to St. Petersburg!
ST. PETERSBURG- For the third time, the Parrots are the SBA champions. St. Pete finished 2nd behind regular season champion Tallahassee, but took care of business in the championship series. Geoff Sawyer, a newcomer to the team, won 26 games for the Parrots. Sawyer was a free agent and came over across the bay from Tampa. Aaron Maly, another former Tampa player, won the league's batting title with a .337 AVG.
In 7 seasons, the Parrots have won the championship 3 times.
Notes:
Tony Gaston (TAL), was again the league's POTY, and MVP. Gaston finished the season with a 27-9 record and a 1.97 ERA. It his 4th POTY Award, and 3rd MVP.
In 7 seasons, only 1 no-hitter has been thrown.
