Season 10 1921 The Dynasty Continues
ST PETERSBURG-Another season, another championship for St. Petersburg. St. Pete snuck into the playoffs on the last day of the season to get the wildcard, and then handed Tallahassee another post season defeat. It is the 6th title for the club located on the west coast of Florida.
Awards: Yep, Tony Gaston, again. Gaston won his 6th POTY Award, and 5th MVP. He has won the POTY award 4 of the last 5 seasons. He finished 1921 with a 25-8 record and led the league in ERA with a 2.77 ERA.
Notes:
Offense is starting to pick up. Mitchell Hancock of St. Petersburg wins the HR crown with 18.
Daniel Andrade of Cape Coral wins the batting title with a stellar .372 AVG.
And Fadil Koci! 60 doubles in 1921. The 28yr old 1B of Tampa had a previous high of 33 in 1918.
The 1st PERFECT GAME in league history was thrown by Steve Rodriquez of Pensecola. Rodriquez completed the feat on 7/12/21 against the Kendall West Ranchers. Interestingly enough, Rodriquez is a former Kendall West player. Rodriquez hails from Titusville, FL. He has a career 78-94 record.
