Welcome to the grid for the Chinese GP here in Bejing on the Bejing International Circuit. This has all ingredients for a cracker and a surprise result. Weather reports are all over the place, via BBC's pit lane reporter Lee McKenzie, and tyre choice could be the key. It is raining 15 miles west of the track and there are dark clouds on the horizon... and we have a interesting grid.

AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO!
CHAPMAN WITH A GOOD START, BUT HE HAS TO MOVE TO BLOCK THE RED CAR OF
RODRIGUES...
SAARINEN GETS SQUEEZED ON THE OUTSIDE AND
HOLTZ GOES PAST
WEXLER... AND
VIDAL GOES DOWN THE INSIDE AND IS UP INTO P2.
And the
Lotus has the best run out of turn three and is side by side with
Chapman into four... AND HE IS AHEAD... BUT
CHAPMAN HAS THE INSIDE LINE INTO THE NEXT CORNER... AND STAYS IN THE LEAD! WHAT A FIRST LAP!
