Just started a Fictional League playing as GM only. I didn't run an inaugural draft so the rosters are as rolled by the AI.

Spring Training comes along and I invite along a number of minor league prospects, a couple of whom proceed to eclipse a couple of the veterans to the extent that I decide to include them in the opening day roster. The veterans, both pushing 40+ and on a fair whack of salary refuse to be demoted to AAA. My question is what do I do next in order to free up the roster slots?

I tried shopping them around but all you get offered are similar ageing major leaguers which wouldn't get around the problem.

I'm just back into the game after about 10 years away and unfortunately I see the option to "hire a hit man" has yet to be implemented.
