Stanton led off the bottom of the second with a home run.

McMullen added a 2-run homer in the bottom of the fourth.

Burroughs put the Rangers on the board in the top of the sixth with an RBI triple.

After six: California 3 Texas 1.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Angels loaded the bases with nobody out. Pinch hitter Mickey Rivers got an RBI single. Pinch hitter Bake McBride did as well to bring California to 10 hits in the game. Stanton then cleared the bases with a 3-run double. The Angels batted around the order and put a crooked number on the board.

With a runner on first and one out in the bottom of the eighth, Kevin Kobel replaced Bosman on the mound.

The Rangers put runners at second and third with two out in the top of the ninth and Tom Murphy replaced Messersmith and got Suarez to fly out to end the game.

Final score: California 8 Texas 1.
