Campaneris led off the bottom of the first with a single to run his hit streak to 15 games. He is now 5th in the AL in batting average. Jackson got an infield single for his 50th hit of the season and gives him a 12 game hit streak. Tenace then got his 10th RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly. The Rangers then committed back-to-back errors and bases were loaded with two out. But Hand struck out Hegan to end the inning.

Maddox tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, Dent committed his second error of the game and the Athletics again had bases loaded and two out. Randle then got his first RBI of the season with a run-scoring single to put Oakland back in the lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Rangers committed their fourth error of the game and Hegan took advantage with a sacrifice fly for an RBI.

In the bottom of the seventh with a runner on first and two out, Paul Lindblad replaced Hand on the mound.
