IPA GOLDEN GLOVERS ACCLAIMED
To be a winner in the Islandian Pro Alliance a team needs some combination of good pitching, good hitting, good power and good defense... most of the accolades in the press go to the glamour boys -- the home-run hitters, the standout pitchers... many times defensive prowess is not as prized... however, most knowledgeable baseball people will tell you good defenders are essential... they might be unsung, but they are a critical part of the successful clubs... the Islandian Pro Alliance today awarded the 2054 Golden Glove Awards to the 18 best glovemen in the Ruthlandian and Tycobbian Unions... they were chosen in a poll conducted by The Islandian Times.

The vast majority of this year's select defenders are first timers... only six of the honorees were previous winners... Marston second sacker Damien D'Amboise and South Fork third baseman garnered their third Golden Glove trophies... Arnold was also the oldest recipient at 33... Midway outfielder Daryl Vale was the youngest at 21... no rookies made the teams this year.
