Battled back multiple times. Tired game in the bottom of the eighth. Second best bullpen ERA in the league comes in. And they still lose by 6! These are your 1973 Texas Rangers. The second game of the series in Minnesota is tonight. The Rangers have now lost 5 straight and 7 straight to the Twins.

Biittner got the Rangers on the board in the top of the first with a 2-run double. Howard added a run-scoring single for his 20th RBI of the season. None of my the three runs were earned.
Nelson increased the Rangers lead in the top of the second with an RBI groundout. Abbott ended the top of the second by striking out Burroughs for his 30th K of the season.
Stanhouse had a no-hitter through three.
After three: Texas 4 Minnesota 0.
In the top of the fourth, Maddox delivered a 2-run triple. Harrah had a run-scoring single. The Rangers then loaded the bases with one out. Howard then beat out the double play to pick up another RBI. Mason followed up with the Rangers 10th hit of the game, a 3-run homer. 10 Rangers came to bat in the innning.
The Twins made a pitching change with a runner on first and one out in the top of the fifth as Abbott left with an injured hand. Jim Perry replaced Abbott. Burroughs got another RBI with a ground ball out.
Braun had a one out single in the bottom of the fifth to break up the no-hitter. Killebrew got the Twins on the board with a sacrifice fly.
The Twins loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the sixth. Kevin Kobel replaced Stanhouse. Mitterwald brought in a run with a ground ball out. Thompson did the same.
After six: Texas 12 Minnesota 3.
Nelson got an infield single for an RBI in the top of the seventh. The Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Dent then scored on a wild pitch.
Killebrew drew his 40th walk of the season in the bottom of the seventh.
In the top of the eighth, Perry issued a lead off walk to Howard and was replaced by Tom Norton.
Rain began to fall in the bottom of the eighth. For the second time in the game, the Twins loaded the bases with nobody out. Mitterwald brought in a run with a ground out, same as he had done in the sixth. With two out, the Twins loaded the bases again. Kobel then ended the innning by striking out Braun for his 30th K of the season.
The top of the ninth saw a 41 minute rain delay.
In the bottom of the ninth, Killebrew walked for the fourth time in the game to set a Twins team record. Casey Cox replaced Kobel on the mound for the Rangers with a runner on first and nobody out. And finished off the Twins.
The Rangers out hit the Twins 16-5.
Final score: Texas 14 Minnesota 4.
