Montreal goes to New Jersey to face the (7-9-3) Devils at the Prudential Center. The two teams will meet for the 1st time this year.

It is all Montreal out of the gate, 5 minutes in the shots are 11-0, but that does not mean a thing. Devils LW Lukas Svensson snaps his 7th of the year at 6:48 with the Devils 1st shot on goal. The period ends up 1-0 for the Devils with the shots at 14-2 for Montreal.

Montreal gets on the board when C Jeff Pilbeam's shot is deflected by RW Petr Klusacek for his 4th of the year at 13:35. Much like the 1st, the Canadiens held most of the momentum in the 2nd period with the shots ending 26-7 for Montreal after two. The scored is tied 1-1.

The Canadiens again dominated the 3rd period but could not beat the Devils goalie. The final shots were 47-10 for the Canadiens as it was an easy night for G Bill Wolfenbarger.
