JUNE 25, 1973
The Rangers had an almost-respectable 5-7 road trip. The three game sweep at the hands of the best team in baseball made it look worse than it really was. They now begin a 12-game home stand with two against the Oakland Athletics. Oakland leads the AL West by 2.5 over Kansas City. The Athletics are getting good run production and pitching. Oakland is second in the league in runs scored, OBP, stolen bases, runs against and starters ERA. The Athletics are third in the league in home runs and defensive efficiency. Oakland has lost 3 of their last 5 but has a 16-6 record in June. The Athletics are 5-1 against the Rangers this season.
