GOOD RACES IN THE IPA AT MIDSEASON
Most of the big guns and top dogs are playing well in the Islandian Pro Alliance at midseason... defending Pro Cup champion Midway is atop the Tycobbian East... powerful Turon is tied with Southport for the lead in the TU South race... and Denton City and White River are leading the TU West and TU North respectively... over in Ruthlandia, Middlefield is again dominating the RU West by a big margin... Taranto is on top of the RU North... Grand City is in first place in the RU South... but there's a huge surprise in the RU East where perennial also-ran and doormat Belle Plaine has a narrow edge over favorite Wynnamac.
Halfway through the year the biggest bulge in the IPA this year goes to the Middlefield Roosters in the Ruthlandian West with an 11-game lead over the Stoner Stars and Sligo Rovers... the other three divisions are logjammed with tight races... in the RU North the Taranto Tars are in a four-team tango with Far Mountain, Valmara and LaGrange... they have a game edge over the Redhawks, two over the Vipers and are four games in front of the Sports... in the super-tight RU South almost all of the teams are still in the running... the Grand City Cybercats are ahead of preseason pick Waleska and last year's division winner Valka by three games... St. John is fourth in the standings and trail by only four games... the big news in the RU East are the Belle Plaine Musketeers, a sixth-place club a year ago... at midyear the Muskies possess a narrow two-game margin over the strong Wynnamac Sundowners... Marston, Cold Creek and Elnora are all within striking distance of the top spot, just a few games off the pace.
Going into the All-Star break, the reigning IPA titlist and juggernaut Midway Wolves are having an unexpected tough time in the Tycobbian East... four teams are hanging close by and still in the race... East Point is just three games out... High Mesa is four back... and two clubs, South Fork and Hillsboro are deadlocked for fourth and trail by six games... powerhouse Turon is in quite a tangle, too... they are tied for the TU South lead with the Southport Sun Sox... and the Arroyo Grande Suns are just a game behind the co-leaders... in the other two Tycobbian divisions a couple of strong teams are ahead with good leads... the TU North leader is White River, which has a seven-game edge over rising Oxford... Denton City also has a fairly confortable six-game lead over last year's division champ Arlon and the Rolling Hills Reds.
