I dunno, I don't see much need for UCF to be in the discussion. Their good win is Navy and their future schedule only includes USF. There just isn't a lot of body of work to say they are every bit as good as the top power conference teams. Does anyone really want to see Alabama play UCF? I don't. I would be more interested in seeing them play another kinda 10th-ish ranked team in a New Year's Day bowl. They seems about right to me. That can have a great season without being included in the playoff. Just my opinion though.
I also think basketball and football comparisons are false narratives. Basketball is completely different; 1-2 really good players can make you a really good team on both sides of the ball.There is no one or two good players in football that can instantly make you 12-0. Even a really good QB only takes you so far. Harder for the small guy to compete.
