I think we should get rid of the AP and Coaches polls now that we have the playoffs. Seriously.
The ranking of these teams in the pre-season causes serious unfair influence when the playoffs role around. Teams that were ranked very high can only fall so far, and have an easier time bouncing back. Teams like USC and Ohio State were ranked very high to start the seasons. Each was massively overrated and lost multiple games. But they are still lingering because they're never going to drop far enough to be out of it. Because they started so damn high. I say no rankings until the playoff committee meets.
