2017 Brazilian GP(15/16): Race Notebook

Brazilian GP: Race Notebook

This race had nearly everything. Strategy drama. Thrilling overtakes. Championship fights. Fuming drivers on the team radio. Team principals that lost their nerves. Only a huge shunt and some rain was missing.

Still, the result remains the same. Iker Vidal in the Lotus with some great late form in the 2017 season puts this one into the books as a win and is working on becoming an icon in his home country of Spain.

"We just knew that Blanc, who is an excellent defensive driver, would be a problem till he pits, and so we decided to save fuel for a final dash towards the end. That we would get past so easily, I actually did not expect," said Vidal after another emotional podium.

Happy German:
"We made the most out of it. That black and gold car simply was too fast... again." While Dieter Wexler did a good job and eventually finished second, his team principal nearly lost it when he made a mistake during the race, losing two places.

Mr. Agostini hit the desk in front of him hard, causing his water bottle to spill... all over the invaluable electronics of the Rossini command center. "They lost communication with their home base in Maranello, lost the telemetry with both cars and Agostini's water," via German TV pitlane reporter Kai Ebel.

Fuming Brit:
"This team is a ******* joke. I am driving for a World Championship. A. World. Championship. And they queue me behind that ******* car in the pit and then don't let me through late to get those three points. Just a joke," was the statement of Harry Chapman before he left the race track without speaking to any team personal.

No higher echolon people from Steinmann were available for comment, but this won't go down well in Brackley, and in Stuttgart where their big partner Mercedes sits.

After Fifteen Races:
The race is open. Vidal. Chapman. Wexler. The UAE GP. That one will be a show.
