The pitcher (with surname Evans) who was a non-roster invitee with the White Sox in 1980 is listed in Baseball-reference.com as Ricky Lee Evans. However, I found at least one newspaper transactions article which cited him under the name Randy Evans as having been with the major league Chicago White Sox in their 1980 spring training camp prior to being farmed out to the minor leagues.

The White Sox had two pitchers named Evans in their system in 1980. I was wrong about the above being the cite for Randy Evans. Baseball-reference has a record for Randall Evans at

I can add a couple of info items about Randy Evans which are not in his baseball-reference record. His exact date of birth is 9/14/1957 and his hometown was Phoenix, Arizona, when he was a player.
