In the bottom of the sixth, Jackson hit his 20th double of the season. Bando then brought Jackson home with an RBI single. Epstein punctuated the innning with a 2-run homer.

In the bottom of the seventh, Campaneris hit his fourth double of the game to set an AL regular season game record. Hendrick followed up with a 2-run homer for the Athletics 10th hit of the game. With runners at first and second and two out, Don Stanhouse replaced Bosman on the mound for the Rangers. He walked Tenace to load the bases but Epstein flew out to center to end the inning.
Nelson hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth for his 20th RBI of the season. Harrah added a sacrifice fly for his 50th RBI of the season.
The Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the ninth. Billings grounded into the 6-4-3 as Howard scored on the play. Nelson then grounded out to end the game.
Final score: Oakland 7 Texas 3.
