In the top of the sixth, Mason hit his 10th double of the season. The Rangers went on to load the bases with nobody out. Nelson grounded to short and Mason was forced out at home. One out. Maddox grounded to first and Suarez was forced out at home. Two away. But Burroughs was not going to let this opportunity get away. He took the first pitch he saw 421 feet for a grand slam! Biittner tried to add to the big innning with a single but Harrah was thrown out trying to score from second.

In the bottom of the sixth, Tenace put the Athletics on the board with a 2-run double.

After six: Texas 4 Oakland 2.

Kobel ended the bottom of the seventh by striking out Hendrick for his 50th K of the season.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Athletics had a runner on first and two out and the Rangers went to the bullpen and brought out Paul Lindblad and he got Bando to ground right back to him to end the inning.

An error to start the bottom of the ninth led to Campaneris drawing his 40th walk of the season with two out to put the tying run on base. But Hendrick flew out to right to end the game.

Final score: Texas 4 Oakland 2.

After a leadoff walk by Burroughs in the top of the sixth, Bob Locker replaced Holtzman on the mound for the Athletics.

In the bottom of the sixth, Jackson broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run with one out. Horacio Pina immediately replaced Rogers on the mound for the Rangers.

In the top of the seventh, Nelson tied the game with an RBI single.

Rollie Fingers took the mound for the Athletics in the top of the eighth. But he only faced two batters before leaving the game with a hand injury. Mike Paul, the former Texas Ranger, replaced Fingers and struck out Harrah to retire the side.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Casey Cox replaced Pina on the mound for the Rangers.

After nine: Texas 1 Oakland 1.

Don Stanhouse came in to pitch the bottom of the eleventh for the Rangers. Hendrick led off the bottom of the eleventh with a walk off home run.
