Jackson led off the bottom of the second with a home run, his 20th of the season. Broberg ended the second by striking out Tolan for his 90th K of the season.
Horlen was perfect through three.
In the bottom of the third, Campaneris injured his foot running the bases and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Tim Cullen.

Maddox got a one out single in the top of the fourth for the Rangers first baserunner of the game.
In the bottom of the fourth, Broberg walked the first three batters and the Athletics had bases loaded and nobody out. Jackson then scored on a 3-6-3 double play grounder. Tolan followed up with a run-scoring single for his 50th RBI of the season.
Horlen struck out Suarez to begin the top of the sixth for his 50th K of the season.
After Bando led off the bottom of the sixth with a single, Don Stanhouse was brought out to replace Broberg. The Athletics then loaded the bases with nobody out. Green lined out to short for one away. Cullen then struck out and there was two down but Stanhouse left the game with a back injury and was replaced by Paul Lindblad. Hendrick then came through with a 2-run single for his 50th RBI of the season. Rudi then hit a single as well but Tolan was thrown out trying to score from second. It was the 10th hit of the game for the Athletics.
After six: Oakland 5 Texas 0.
Horlen walked Maddox to lead off the top of the seventh and was immediately replaced by Dave Hamilton. Howard then hit a run-scoring double for his 60th RBI of the season.
Hamilton struck out Mason in the top of the eighth for his 40th K of the season.
For the game, the Rangers were out hit 12-2.
